Im using HP omen 16-xf0060AX. I was playing game while the laptop screen and keyboard blacked out all of a sudden. However, the peripherals like mouse and external keyboard were still working and I was still listening to sounds from the game. To test it further, I connected an external display via hdmi cable and that worked as well. After I turned off the laptop, Im now stuck because I can't boot it up again since the power button is part of the laptop keyboard which is not working. I don't know what could be the problem or what to do now.

@ParagT, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you're dealing with a fairly specific issue involving the internal display and keyboard of your HP Omen laptop, but the fact that peripherals are working and you can still hear game sounds suggests the laptop itself is still running in the background. Here are some HP troubleshooting steps you can follow:

Power Cycle Your Laptop

Disconnect all external peripherals (external keyboard, mouse, etc.).

Shut down the laptop completely by holding the power button for 10-15 seconds (if it's still responsive).

Unplug the charger from the laptop and disconnect any external devices (USB, HDMI, etc.).

Remove the battery (if it's removable) and hold down the power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual power.

Re-insert the battery, plug the laptop back in, and try to power it on again.

Try a Hard Reset

If you can't turn the laptop on because the power button is part of the keyboard:

Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).

Hold the power button for 30 seconds to completely discharge any residual electricity.

Plug the charger back in and see if the laptop powers on.

Use an External Keyboard to Power On

Since your external keyboard works, check if it can be used to power the laptop on. Many laptops support external keyboard power-on if the laptop's internal keyboard is not functioning properly.

Try pressing the power button on the external keyboard (if it has one) or use the "Enter" or "Space" keys to check if the laptop wakes up.

Check for Display/Backlight Issues

If you can use the external monitor but the internal display is black:

Try toggling between the internal display and the external display.

Check Device Manager for Hardware Issues

Since you're able to connect an external display, try using that to access the Device Manager:

Press Win + X and select Device Manager.

Look for any exclamation marks or warnings under Display Adapters or Keyboards.

If there are any issues, you can try updating or reinstalling drivers.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
