I have been looking at the Steam Valve as the catalogue of games is big. But it says that is needs a DisplayPort 1.2+ which mine does not have. So i am wondering if someone can help me and recommend something i could use with the laptop or a stand alone one that is a decent bit of kit.

Thanks in advance for any advice that is given on this feed.

@RKillian

It requires

             DisplayPort™ 1.3, USB 3.0 type C

Does your machine have those ports ?

Regards.

It's has a HDMI port and 3 USB 3.0. No display port. So this why I was asking for advice ones that people have had that could connect to my laptop or stand alone ones like the metaquesr2 or 3?

I appreciate your interest in getting a VR headset and the confusion surrounding compatibility with your laptop. After reviewing the specifications of your HP Pavilion Gaming 17-cd1000 Laptop, I have an impressive recommendation for you. The Oculus Quest 2, a standalone VR headset, would be a perfect fit for your needs. It offers a wide range of games and doesn't require a DisplayPort 1.2+, making it compatible with your laptop. Its versatility and performance will surely impress you. Happy VR gaming!

Thank you for your reply and I will look into the VR set you have named. I appreciate you taking the time for looking I to it for me as it was a confusing experience trying to work out what would work with my laptop.
