OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-xd0000 (758R0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

My issue stems from the fact that whenever i update by gfx driver ot reduces battery life.

Sometimes it reduces the battery by half bcoz the discrete card is always on.

If i reinstall my amd driver after the update, it still reduces the battery by about 3 % per hour.

This is significant bcoz my lap only uses about 9 -12 % per hour in casual use.

Pls either add hybrid igpu mode or look into it.

The battery becoming half affects all nvidia drivers unless i reinstall my amd one.

The reducing by 3% seems to only affect some new drivers ( ig newer than 565 or something), can't be exactly sure since some drivers from windows update doesn't have this issue.

I am currently using 529.04 which is present in hp support of my laptop(it's an extremely older driver from feb 2023).

Pls add hybrid igpu mode, afterall some other omen seems to have it.

Also i did post a reddit thread and found out an other omen transcend 2025 core ultra 200 series user seems to have this issue but could ignore it because of igpu only mode.

My spec- ryzen 7 7840hs, RTX 4050

THANKS

@Athul_, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Update BIOS and Drivers

Go to HP Support and check if there are any BIOS or firmware updates for your laptop.

Update your graphics drivers from the HP Support page for your laptop model.

Adjust Graphics Settings

NVIDIA Control Panel: Go to Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings, and set Integrated Graphics for battery savings (instead of the RTX 4050).

Adjust Power Settings

Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery, and set to Better Battery mode.

In Advanced Power Settings, set PCI Express to Maximum Power Savings.

Rollback Drivers (if newer drivers are causing the issue)

In Device Manager, right-click your Nvidia GPU, go to Properties > Driver tab, and click Roll Back Driver.

Battery Report

Open Command Prompt (Admin) and type powercfg /batteryreport to get a battery health report.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi

Thanks for replying

Well this issue does indeed not persist in the old driver 529 which was available in the hp support website but the driver is quite old, from february 2023 (about 2 and a half years old) so some games do warn me about the drivers.

Additionally i tried bcdedit /set pciexpress forcedisable which doesn't work

Is there any cmd prompt or can i make a request to add igpu only mode to omen gaming hub as omen 2023 7840hs model is still relevant and used by many people.
