Microsoft Windows 11

Got my laptop in mid 2019, so now I'd like to upgrade it a bit outside of ram and ssd space, more along the lines of CPU, GPU, etc. Is it safe to say that the only CPU and GPU I can upgrade to, are the ones that were available at the time of purchase, as additional upgrades? Would like to upgrade my i7-9750H and my GTX 1660ti, but don't see much out there for options, leaving me perplexed and curious. Any insight is appreciated, thanks!

Hi:

The CPU and GPU are integral parts of the motherboard.

You would need to replace the motherboard with one listed in your notebook's service manual that comes with a better processor and graphics adapter.

Maintenance and Service Guide OMEN by HP 15 Laptop PC

I would probably cost less money to buy a new notebook with a better processor and graphics than to replace the motherboard in yours.

It appears the best equipped motherboard is only slightly better than what you have now.

Intel Core i9-9880H processor and 8 GB of discrete graphics memory (GeForce RTX 2080)

Thank you very much, I appreciate the insight as that's what I believed to be my only solution as well.

You're very welcome, Shane.

All PC manufacturer's only make notebooks with integrated processors.

In order to be able to upgrade/replace a graphics card, you would need to buy a high-end business class mobile workstation, and even with those, the processors are integrated onto the motherboard.

Cheers,

Paul
