Hello everyone, I've been looking around for a solution to my problem, but I haven't found nothing since other questions on this forum are regarding other laptop models or similar problems but not my exact issue.
On my OMEN 15 AX000NL laptop everytime I need to use the integrated microphone(s) i find that the audio level is too low (for instance in skype or facebook messenger, people can't hear me properly, and even audacity can't record at a proper level). In windows Recording Devices options, I've set the pre-amp level and the volume to maximum values, but this doesn't seem to affect anything. Also, when I try to speak and have a look to the level meter, it always stays low, barely moving: only when I touch the microphone itself on the plastics the meter moves to maximum value.

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
I see that Microphone recording volume is low while recording, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Have you tried with an external device?
- When was the last time it worked fine?
The following are some basic troubleshooting tools that you can use to restore your microphone's functionality,
-
Right-click the Sound icon
in the system taskbar, beside the clock. Select Recording Devices from the drop-down menu.
-
When the Sound window opens to the Recording tab, select Microphone. The Microphone entry should say that it is working, and there should be a meter beside the entry.
-
Tap the plastic above the display gently. The meter should respond to the sound stimulus by rising and falling.
-
If the microphone is not working, or if the meter is not present, or does not seem to respond to sound input, try the following:
-
Click Properties and in the Microphone Properties window, make sure the device is enabled in the Device usage drop-down menu on the General tab.
-
Click the Levels tab and set the microphone volume to 100.
-
Click the Advanced tab and make sure all options are selected.
-
Click Apply and then OK. Close the windows.
-
Try recording again to determine if the problem is resolved. If there is still no sound, continue to the next troubleshooting item. Click here
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
