My Laptop is HP pavilion gaming 15,I use Pop_os (Nvidia) LTS as my one and only OS in device. Since this morning the laptop isn't booting properly. When i press power button the laptop starts and off again in 3 seconds even the light on the power button glows when I press and goes off after the laptop shutdown. I tried changing the boot option in bios by enabling secure boot but it appears as 'The boot image selected did not authenticate' while again i disable the secure boot it goes back to the turning on Issue again.
Kindly provide me a better solution as soon as possible

Hi @DharaniR2207,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're facing with your HP Pavilion Gaming 15 laptop not booting properly and shutting off after 3 seconds can be quite frustrating. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to try and resolve this issue.
Basic Troubleshooting Steps
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect all external devices.
- Remove the power cord and, if possible, the battery.
- Hold down the power button for at least 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord and try to power on the laptop again.
Check Power Supply and Connections:
- Ensure that your power adapter is working correctly.
- Try using a different power outlet or adapter if available.
Reset BIOS to Default Settings:
- Turn on the laptop and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
- Press F10 to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.
- In the BIOS, press F9 to load default settings.
- Press F10 to save and exit.
Advanced Troubleshooting Steps
Re-seat RAM and SSD:
- If you are comfortable opening your laptop, try re-seating the RAM and SSD. This means removing them from their slots and placing them back in firmly.
- Ensure that there is no dust or debris in the slots.

Check for Hardware Issues:
- If the issue persists, it could be related to a hardware problem. Run the HP Hardware Diagnostics tool:
- Turn on the laptop and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
- Press F2 to open the System Diagnostics.
- Run the Extensive Test to check for any hardware issues.
BIOS Update:
- Sometimes a BIOS update can resolve boot issues. You can check for the latest BIOS update for your laptop on the HP Support website.
- Follow the instructions provided on the HP website to update your BIOS.
Pop!_OS Reinstallation:
- If none of the above steps work, you might need to reinstall Pop!_OS. Before doing this, ensure you back up your data if possible.
Secure Boot Issue
Since you mentioned enabling secure boot and encountering the "The boot image selected did not authenticate" error, it's essential to keep secure boot disabled if your current OS installation does not support it.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
