Hi guys, my HP Omen 16 won’t turn on. Earlier it used to turn off while running some games or other programs, but I could start it using the troubleshooting steps like holding down the power button for 60 seconds or windows key + B and power button simultaneously.
But these steps are not working now, and my computer won’t power on or boot up. When I plug in the power cord I can see that the LED lights up and the devices is charging but it doesn’t boot up

Hi @ich1go,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Omen 16 is not turning on despite the LED indicating charging, there are a few potential causes and troubleshooting steps you can take:
1. Perform a Power Reset
A power reset can help discharge residual power:
- Disconnect all peripherals (e.g., USB drives, external monitors).
- Unplug the power adapter.
- Hold down the power button for 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power adapter (leave peripherals disconnected) and try powering it on.
2. Check for Hardware Issues
- Inspect the power adapter and cable: Ensure they are in good condition and delivering power. Use a known working adapter if available.
- Battery test: If possible, remove the battery (if it's not internal) and try running the laptop on AC power only.
- Check for faulty RAM: If you’re comfortable, open the laptop, remove and reseat the RAM sticks.
3. BIOS Recovery
The combination of Windows Key + B and the power button indicates a BIOS recovery attempt. If it didn’t work before, try again:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press and hold the Windows Key + B.
- While holding those keys, press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds, then release the power button while continuing to hold the keys for another 20 seconds.
- If the BIOS recovery screen appears, follow the instructions.
4. Check for Signs of Life
When pressing the power button:
- Do you hear any fans spinning or hard drive activity?
- Do the keyboard backlight or other LEDs (besides the charging light) respond?
If there’s no response other than the charging LED, it may indicate a deeper hardware issue, such as:
- A failing motherboard or power circuit.
- Overheating damage from previous shutdowns.
5. External Monitor Test
Connect your laptop to an external monitor. If the screen is blank but the system powers on, it could be a display or GPU issue.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
