Does your laptop battery charge only when the laptop is turned off? Click here to view the solution

Hi everyone,

I have an HP Omen laptop that I’ve been using mainly for gaming. At the start, it was running really smooth, and I could play games like Roblox and Valorant without any FPS issues. But recently, after some Windows and driver updates, the performance dropped a lot.

Now I see sudden FPS drops, loading takes longer, and sometimes the laptop fan gets really loud. I already tried lowering graphics settings in games, cleaning the fans, and even reinstalling GPU drivers, but it only helped a little.

Has anyone else noticed this kind of slowdown after updates on their Omen laptops? Do you think rolling back drivers or changing BIOS settings could help?

While searching online I also came across this site: https://fluxusteams.com/

Not sure if it’s useful  has anyone here tried it?

Any tips would be great.

Hi @Wifigh,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your Omen laptop was running games smoothly before, but after recent Windows and driver updates you’re noticing FPS drops, longer load times, and louder fans even after lowering graphics and reinstalling drivers. Let’s try a few steps to get performance back on track:

Check Windows updates: Make sure no updates are pending in Settings > Update & Security. Sometimes partial installs cause performance issues.

Reinstall graphics drivers cleanly: Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in safe mode to remove old GPU drivers, then reinstall the latest from NVIDIA/AMD.

Verify power settings: Go to Control Panel > Power Options and ensure the plan is set to High performance or HP Recommended. Also check in Omen Gaming Hub that “Performance Mode” is enabled.

Check for thermal throttling: Run HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to see if CPU/GPU temps are too high. If so, consider repasting or using a cooling pad.

Update BIOS & Omen software: Visit HP’s support page for your model and update BIOS, chipset, and Omen Gaming Hub.

Disable background apps: In Task Manager > Startup, turn off unnecessary apps that may be consuming resources.

Test rolling back drivers: If the slowdown started after a specific GPU driver update, try rolling back to a previous stable version.

Clean boot: Boot with only essential services to check if any third-party software is interfering with performance.

I hope this helps.
