Hi @bendish,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the issue you're experiencing with your HP Pavilion Gaming TG01-2035 could be related to several factors, such as a driver conflict, hardware failure, or a corrupted system file. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Boot into Safe Mode

Since you can’t log into Windows normally, boot into Safe Mode to perform diagnostics:

  1. Turn off your PC and turn it back on. Repeatedly press F8 or Shift + F8 during startup until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears.
  2. Select Safe Mode with Networking.
  3. If Safe Mode works without restarting, proceed to the steps below.

2. Check for Faulty Drivers

The DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION error is often caused by driver conflicts, particularly with storage or GPU drivers.

  • Open Device Manager in Safe Mode.
  • Look for yellow warning signs or exclamation marks next to any device.
  • Right-click and choose Update driver for problematic devices.
  • If no updates work, roll back drivers or uninstall the device temporarily.

3. Check for Corrupted System Files

Run the System File Checker (SFC) and DISM tools:

  1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  2. Run the following commands one at a time: sfc /scannow
    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  3. Let each command finish and follow any instructions provided.

4. Test Your Hardware

Restart issues can sometimes be caused by hardware problems:

  • RAM: Use the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool to check your RAM.
    • Press Win + R, type mdsched.exe, and press Enter.
    • Choose to restart and check for problems.
  • Storage: Use a third-party tool (like CrystalDiskInfo) or the built-in Windows utility:
    • Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run: chkdsk /f /r
    • Follow the prompts to schedule the check on the next restart.

5. Revert Recent Updates or Perform a System Restore

If the issue began after a recent Windows or driver update:

  • Boot into Safe Mode and open Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.
  • Select a restore point from before the problem started and follow the instructions.

6. Adjust Power Settings in BIOS

Your BIOS may be set to restart your PC in case of a power failure:

  1. Enter the BIOS during startup (press F10, Del, or another key depending on your motherboard).
  2. Look for options like Power Management or Restore on AC Power Loss and disable auto-restart settings.
  3. Save and exit.

7. Reinstall Windows

If none of the above steps resolve the issue:

  • Use the HP Recovery Manager or a bootable USB drive to reinstall Windows.
  • Backup your data first if possible.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
