My Omen 15 is only charging when closed and is displaying a message saying Plugged in, Not charging

So a couple of months back (During exams) I noticed my Hp Omen 2016 wasn't charging while open and on, however, it would charge while the screen was shut/sleeping or the laptop was off. I thought there may have been something wrong with the charger but I and a relative used a multimeter to measure the charger and both the cable and the battery seemed fully functional however I'm not too sure if it is ok. We searched for a solution online for a while and tried a few methods with seemingly no avail. 

I use my laptop for pretty much everything and am hoping to have it operating correctly before the beginning of the term.

Your battery sensor may be broken.What  I recommend is go to HP service and check your battery sensor.

I downloaded the current f.48 but am unable to download the other previous versions. It says "This BIOS update is not compatible with this device"

All you need is the f.48.

It includes all the previous versions.

Ok, but I don't think it did anything in terms of a fix for it as the laptop is still having the same problem.
