Victus by HP 15.6 inch gaming laptop 15-fa2000 its camera driveris not installed in my pc and whenever I open my camear it shows no camera available. I have checked for drivers in  device manger couldnt find it and is not available in hp support website where only other drivers were available. Even the place where I bought my pc they couldn't find it sayibg it will take 2 to 8 weeks to get it installed. Its been 3 weeks since I have bought this PC and now I am facing this issue. Would be helpful if somebody helped me with this issue. Please if any hp support member is viewing this try to give driver link that would be helpful as i have seen same problem problem is still going on for other people with same pc as mine.

Hi @Abhi2141

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for explaining the issue clearly — I understand how disappointing it is to face a non-functional camera, especially on a brand-new Victus by HP 15-fa2000 series laptop. I appreciate your patience so far.

Let’s work through this step-by-step and get your camera working without needing to wait 2–8 weeks, which is definitely not acceptable for a new system.

Step 1: Check Privacy Settings & Permissions

Sometimes, Windows may block access to the camera.

Press Windows + I to open Settings

Go to Privacy & security > Camera

Ensure Camera access is ON

Ensure Let apps access your camera is ON

Then check if the Camera app still shows the error.

Step 2: Scan for Hidden Devices in Device Manager

The camera driver may be hidden or incorrectly categorized.

Open Device Manager

Click View > Show hidden devices

Expand the following:

Cameras

Imaging devices

Universal Serial Bus controllers

If you see USB Video Device, Unknown Device, or anything with a yellow warning icon, right-click > Uninstall > then restart.

Still nothing? Continue below.

Step 3: Check for Disabled Camera in BIOS

Some HP laptops have the camera disabled in BIOS by default.

Here's how to check:

Restart your laptop

Immediately tap Esc repeatedly, then press F10 to enter BIOS

Navigate to Advanced > Built-in Device Options (names may vary)

Look for Integrated Camera — ensure it is Enabled

Save changes and exit (usually F10 again)

Restart and check again in the Camera app.

Step 4: Install HP Camera Driver Manually via Windows Update

Even though HP doesn’t list a camera driver on your model's support page, most HP integrated cameras use generic UVC drivers supplied by Windows.

To manually trigger driver detection:

Open Device Manager

Click Action > Scan for hardware changes

Then go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates

Click Advanced options > Optional updates
→ Check under Driver updates if a camera or imaging device driver is listed

Install any camera-related drivers, restart, and test the Camera app.

Step 5: Install HP Support Assistant

Even if HP’s support page doesn’t show a camera driver, HP Support Assistant may detect and install it.

Download from official page:
HP Support Assistant – Official Download

Install and open the app

Click "My devices" > [Your Laptop] > Updates

See if it offers any driver for the camera

Let it complete the installation and restart the system.

Let me know how far you get with these steps. If you share what’s visible in Device Manager under hidden devices, I can assist you more directly.

I have tried all the steps even contacted hp support through call still my problem is not solved. Why the camera driver isnt available in website where I could dowload it. If you can provide a link where I can download a camera driver that would be helpful as my device manager doesnt have a camera driver in it installed which is the obvious issue.

We sincerely thank you for your patience and co-operation during this troubleshooting process.

Things you can still try before declaring hardware fault:

Run HP UEFI Hardware Diagnostics

Shut down laptop completely

Power on, immediately press Esc → F2

In the menu, run Component Tests > Camera

If the test doesn’t even detect a camera, that means the hardware is missing or not connected.

Reinstall Chipset & Intel/AMD Graphics Drivers

Sometimes the camera enumerates through graphics/USB controller drivers.

Go to your model’s HP driver page → install the Chipset driver and the Graphics driver again.

Restart → Check Device Manager.

Check Keyboard Camera Key (if present)

Some Victus/HP models have a physical camera shutter key (Fn + Fxx) or a manual privacy shutter slider near the webcam.

If that’s engaged, Windows won’t detect the camera.

Force Device Scan

In Device Manager → Action → Add legacy hardware → Imaging devices → Install "USB Video Device" manually.

Restart. If the camera starts working → it was just a detection glitch.

If still nothing:

Since it’s brand new (3 weeks old) and never detected the camera once:

This is almost certainly a hardware issue (camera module not connected / defective at assembly).

You shouldn’t wait 2–8 weeks for “a driver” that doesn’t exist — you’re entitled to a replacement or repair under HP warranty.

Hi @ashif03,

I understand your Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop (15-fa2000 series) camera is not working, and you’re seeing a “No camera available” message. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

a. Check Device Manager for Camera Hardware

Press Windows + X → Device Manager.

Expand Cameras, Imaging devices, or Sound, video and game controllers.

If you don’t see any of these, click on View → Show hidden devices.

If the camera still doesn’t appear, it might not be detected by the system yet.

b. Scan for Hardware Changes

In Device Manager, right-click on your PC name at the top of the list.

Select Scan for hardware changes.

If a camera device appears with a yellow triangle, right-click and choose Update driver → Search automatically for drivers.

c. Install Windows Updates

Go to Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates.

Install all pending updates and restart your PC.

Windows often installs generic camera drivers through these updates.

d. Manually Install the Driver via Windows Update Catalog

Open your browser and visit https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com.

Search for HP TrueVision HD Camera or HP Wide Vision HD Camera driver.

Download the version compatible with Windows 11 and install it manually.

e. Enable the Camera in Privacy Settings

Go to Settings → Privacy & security → Camera.

Ensure Camera access and Let apps access your camera are both turned On.

f. BIOS and Hardware Check

Restart your laptop and press Esc → F10 to enter BIOS.

Check if there’s an option for Built-in Camera and ensure it’s Enabled.

Save changes and restart.

g. Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

Press Esc repeatedly while booting → Select F2 (System Diagnostics).

Run a Component Test → Camera to verify if the hardware is being detected.

If it fails or shows “No camera detected,” it indicates a possible loose internal connection.

I hope this helps.
