I recently bought HP VIctus 15 I5 12450H WITH RTX 2050, the performance is not up to the mark even to the point where im not getting 60 fps in games. Games like cs go 2 , pubg, apex legends these all games should run above 100 fps on low settings but im getting less than 60.

I have done all updates everything on drivers and etc but no result.

sometimes only my cpu is working like on 100 percent and gpu 0 to 10 percent.

help pls

Hi @Reineu

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Try these steps:

1. Check Power Settings:

  • Make sure your laptop is set to "High Performance" in the Windows power settings. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options and select "High Performance."

2. NVIDIA Control Panel Settings:

  • Open the NVIDIA Control Panel and ensure that your games are set to use the RTX 2050. Under "Manage 3D Settings," you can specify the preferred graphics processor for each game.

3. Game Settings:

  • While you mentioned you’re on low settings, double-check if any other settings (like V-Sync) are enabled. Disable V-Sync to see if it helps with FPS.

4. Background Processes:

  • Check for background processes that might be using CPU resources. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and look for any unnecessary applications that can be closed.

5. Thermal Throttling:

  • Monitor the CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming. If temperatures are too high, the system may throttle performance to prevent overheating. Use software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to check temps.

6. BIOS Settings:

  • Check your BIOS settings to ensure that there are no power-saving features that might be limiting performance. Make sure the latest BIOS version is installed.

7. Driver Reinstallation:

  • Consider uninstalling and then reinstalling both the GPU drivers and any chipset drivers. Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove existing NVIDIA drivers thoroughly before reinstalling.

8. Windows Game Mode:

  • Ensure that Windows Game Mode is enabled. This can help optimize system resources for gaming.

9. Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your Windows installation is fully updated. Sometimes performance fixes come through Windows updates.

NOTE: While the i5-12450H and RTX 2050 should provide decent performance, if the CPU is consistently at 100% usage, it could bottleneck your GPU. Consider checking the specific game requirements and ensuring your CPU isn’t struggling with background processes or tasks.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
