I believe it’s the charger because it’s been charging perfect until that one not last night it’s been charging perfectly and I have shot everything with compressed air already what I mean by it was charging last night. I plugged it in last night. It was charging for a little bit and then it just stopped charging. And I think the charger will not charge anymore

Hi @TommyV777,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

When your Victus Gaming Laptop's charger suddenly stops working, it can be frustrating, especially if it was working fine before. Let's walk through some steps to diagnose and hopefully resolve the issue.

1. Check the Power Source

  • Test the Outlet: Make sure the wall outlet you’re using is working by plugging in another device, like a lamp or phone charger. Sometimes the outlet itself could be the problem.
  • Try a Different Outlet: If possible, try plugging your charger into a different outlet to rule out any issues with the power source.

2. Inspect the Charger

  • Check for Damage: Examine the charging brick and cable closely for any visible damage like fraying, kinks, or burn marks. A damaged cable could prevent the charger from working.
  • Smell for Burnt Odor: Sometimes, internal components can burn out. If you notice a burnt smell coming from the charging brick, it’s likely damaged and needs to be replaced.

3. Inspect the Charging Port

  • Check for Debris: Look inside the laptop’s charging port for any debris, dust, or lint that could be obstructing the connection. Use a can of compressed air to gently clean it out if necessary.
  • Test the Fit: Plug the charger into the laptop and gently wiggle it to see if the connection feels loose. If the port is loose, it may need to be repaired.

4. Test with Another Charger

  • Use a Compatible Charger: If you have access to another compatible charger, try using it to see if your laptop charges. If it does, then your original charger may be faulty and needs to be replaced.

5. Reset the Laptop

  • Perform a Hard Reset: Disconnect the charger, turn off the laptop, and remove any connected peripherals. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to reset the laptop’s internal components. Plug the charger back in and turn the laptop on to see if it charges.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @TommyV777,

Please find the next steps below.

6. Check for Charger Indicator Lights

  • Look for Lights: Some chargers or laptops have indicator lights that show when the charger is connected and working. If the light isn’t on, it could mean the charger isn’t getting power.

7. Check Battery Status in BIOS

  • Access BIOS: Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS setup. Look for battery and power management options to see if the charger is recognized by the system.
  • Perform a Battery Test: If available, run a battery test from within the BIOS to diagnose if the issue is with the battery or the charger.

8. Update BIOS and Drivers

  • Check for Updates: Sometimes, a BIOS or driver update can resolve power issues. Visit HP’s support site, enter your laptop’s model number, and check for any available updates for the BIOS or power management drivers.

9. Replace the Charger

  • Consider a Replacement: If none of the above steps work, it might be time to replace the charger. Make sure to purchase an official HP charger that is compatible with your Victus Gaming Laptop to avoid further issues.

By following these steps, you can diagnose whether the issue lies with the charger, the laptop’s charging port, or something else entirely. If the charger is at fault, replacing it should solve the problem.

If your laptop is still under warranty, or if the issue persists even after trying all these steps, it’s a good idea to contact HP phone support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
