My laptop showed bios corruption error 2-3 days ago and i solved it by using bios recovery drive. It turned on and ran normally. But after that when I open, suddenly it won't turned on but power led is on when I switch it on.i repeatedly on and off my laptop and suddenly it switched on but the logo is flickering and entered into normal screen. It also flickered and with noise sound. I forcefully shut it off. After that is doesn't turing on.Also my caps lock blinking  for 3 long and 2 short.

What's your recommendation?

Do i need to visit service center or can i solve it at home?

Hi @511tu,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The blinking pattern on your HP laptop, specifically 3 long and 2 short blinks, indicates a potential BIOS corruption issue. Given that you've already attempted a BIOS recovery and are now experiencing flickering and noise, it seems like a more severe hardware or firmware issue might be at play.

Here are some steps you can try at home before visiting a service center:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Disconnect all external devices.
  2. Disconnect the power adapter.
  3. Remove the battery (if it's removable).
  4. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the power adapter and try turning on the laptop again.

2. Reset the BIOS

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Press and hold the Windows + B keys, then press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds.
  3. Release the power button but continue holding the Windows + B keys until the BIOS recovery screen appears.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to recover the BIOS.

3. Check for Hardware Issues

  • RAM: Reseat the RAM modules. If you have more than one RAM module, try starting the laptop with each module individually to check for faulty RAM.
  • Hard Drive/SSD: Ensure the hard drive or SSD is properly connected.

4. Test with Minimal Hardware

  1. Disconnect all non-essential hardware (such as additional RAM modules, external peripherals, etc.).
  2. Try booting with only the essential components.

5. Check for Display Issues

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor to check if the flickering and noise issue persists on an external display. This can help determine if the issue is related to the internal display or GPU.

6. BIOS Update

  • If you can get the laptop to turn on again, consider updating the BIOS to the latest version from the HP Support website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
