Product: Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 (598V1AV)

Recently (a couple months now), my internet has been having constant and consistent latency spikes, where I will go up to around 400mbps of latency. I have done some research, and I have a MediaTek adapter, which apparently has notorious latency spike issues. When I am gaming, or even watching something, it will stop everything for up to 20 seconds, and if I am gaming, it will boot me off of the game. These spikes happen about once every 5 minutes, so it really ruins the experience. How should I fix this? I have done everything- updated drivers, restarted both router and computer, and even gone so far as to do a ton of research, but nothing works.
