I have an HP Pavilion with a Celeron processor but for months the hard drive was reading very small amount of space I finally noticed it said no har drive at all in the file system view so i decided to open the computer up with a small computer tools kit i got after I knew the warranty was void. I noticed that te hard drive had a very bad crimp in the satta cable but the computer. Was never opened because there was several plastic no tampering clips that had to be removed to get to the battery compartment these parts may be cheap but i dont know how this never opened computer had such a ser5ious defect as a mangled hard drive cable

@silvrainwindmel, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Pavilion notebook!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It appears you're experiencing issues with the hard drive connectivity in your HP Pavilion notebook. Here are some steps you can consider to address this problem:
Check the SATA Cable: Since you mentioned a crimped SATA cable, it's advisable to replace it. A damaged cable can prevent the hard drive from being recognized by the system.
Re-seat the Hard Drive: Sometimes, simply removing the hard drive and securely re-seating it in its bay can resolve connectivity issues. Ensure that all connections are snug and secure.
Inspect for Physical Damage: Look closely at the hard drive bay and connectors to ensure there are no visible damages that might impede the connection.
Test with Another Hard Drive: If possible, test your laptop with a spare hard drive to determine whether the problem lies with the original drive or the connection itself.
BIOS Check: Enter the BIOS setup on your HP Pavilion and verify if the hard drive is being detected. If the BIOS does not recognize the hard drive, it is likely a hardware issue.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
