Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-d0000 (2V8U5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi guys, Just a week back my Hp Victus starting acting weird. Whenever I powered it on, the keyboard backlit turned on but it took upto 5 mins to show a display i.e. the Victus logo. It happend everytime i shut down and try to power my laptop up or restart my laptop. My laptop also felt slower, my games lagged ( Valorant) to a point it was unplayable. It also gave 'CMOS checksum not found error' sometimes and 'No boot device found' other times.

I went to a service centre, they told me the battery and SSD are working fine, but the motherboard graphics chip has an issue and they'll try to repair it.

I want to know about this issue I'm facing and are the service centre guys legit.

Thanks 🙂

Hi @Haisess,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand your concern. However, Let's try fewer steps and see if that helps. If you have already tried, then you may ignore😊.

Restore defaults and replace the CMOS battery

  • Use the following steps to access the BIOS and apply the default settings to resolve the checksum error.
  • Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  • Turn on the computer.
  • When the first screen is displayed, do one of the following:
  • Immediately press the f10 key repeatedly, about once every second, until the Computer Setup program is displayed.
  • Immediately press the esc key repeatedly, about once every second, until the Startup menu is displayed. Then press f10 to open the Computer Setup program.
  • In the BIOS Setup Utility, select the File tab.
  • Select Apply Defaults and Exit.
  • The computer restarts. If the error no longer appears, you are done.

Setting the defaults

  • If the error is not resolved, go to HP Desktop PCs - Removing and replacing the CMOS battery for instructions to replace your CMOS battery.
  • After replacing the battery, restart the computer to see whether the error is resolved.
  • If the error no longer appears, wait until Windows opens and set the date and time to the current settings.
  • If the error is not resolved, the default BIOS information has become corrupted. The computer requires service or a new system board.

For boot device not found, Click here

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, I suggest, you get the PC repaired.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
