Hi @Mavhunduse
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Your issue seems related to how your laptop handles multiple GPUs, specifically the NVIDIA GeForce 940MX and Intel HD Graphics 620. Here are several steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the stuttering issues:
Update Graphics Drivers
Ensure both your NVIDIA and Intel GPU drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the respective websites:
Steps to update the driver:
- Go to the HP official website or the NVIDIA and Intel websites linked above.
- Download the latest version of your graphics drivers.
- Install the drivers following the instructions provided.
Switch to High-Performance Mode
Enable high-performance mode for your laptop to make sure your graphics card is prioritized for gaming:
Setting power high performance:
- Press the Windows key + S and search for cmd, then right-click to run as administrator.
- Enter powercfg -s 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c and press Enter.
Utilize OMEN Gaming Hub (if available)
If your laptop supports OMEN Gaming Hub, you can use it to manage performance settings:
Turn on violent mode and turn off ECO mode:
- Press the Windows key + S simultaneously, search for OMEN Gaming Hub and open it.
- Click on [OMEN 15/16/17].
- Click [Performance Control], select [Rampage Mode], and uncheck [Automatically switch to ECO mode].
Disable Integrated Graphics in BIOS
You can also try to disable the integrated Intel GPU in BIOS, ensuring only the NVIDIA GPU is used:
Steps to disable integrated graphics in BIOS:
- Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 to enter the BIOS setup.
- Navigate to Configuration, then find Graphics switch.
- Select the Discrete option instead of Integrated.
- Save changes and exit.
Adjust NVIDIA Control Panel Settings
Ensure that the NVIDIA GPU is prioritized for high performance:
- Right-click a blank space on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Select Manage 3D Settings.
- Change the preferred graphics processor to Highest Performance NVIDIA Processor.
- Adjust power management mode to Highest performance and apply.
Perform Windows Updates
Ensure your operating system and drivers are up to date using Windows Update:
- In Windows, search for and open Check for updates.
- Install any available updates, including optional updates, and restart your computer when prompted.
