OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-b1000 (4Z7T3AV)

Hello,

I have lot of nvlddmkm crashs with errors 153/0 since the beginning of the year.
I've already chech system requirements, monitor system temperatures, verify game files, disable backgroung processes, update my bios, test hardware component (and also tried new PSU, memtest..), uptade windows and chipset, set my power plan to "High Performance", check for malware, try DDU with previous version.. but nothing help.

Also the drivers avalaible on support.hp for my laptop are from 2022 (nvidia etc) and stop at version 11 22h2 (23h2 or 24h2 are not available), I don't have advanced in bios to disable XMP or switch PCIE version, no bios rollback option too..
My laptop is no longer under warranty, and I don't know what to do to resolve the situation.

Hi @AntoineCh,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP Omen 16 is experiencing repeated Nvlddmkm crashes (errors 153/0) despite updating drivers, BIOS, and performing extensive troubleshooting. These errors are usually related to the NVIDIA graphics driver or GPU subsystem. Since your laptop is no longer under warranty and official HP drivers are outdated, here are some steps you can try:

Completely Uninstall NVIDIA Drivers

Download DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) from Guru3D.

Boot into Safe Mode and run DDU to fully remove NVIDIA drivers.

After uninstall, restart your PC and install the latest clean NVIDIA driver from NVIDIA’s official website (choose your GPU model).

Check for Optional Windows Updates

Go to Settings → Windows Update → Advanced Options → Optional Updates and install any pending driver updates, especially GPU-related.

Adjust NVIDIA Control Panel Settings

Open NVIDIA Control Panel → Manage 3D Settings → set Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance.

Disable Threaded Optimization.

Test Different NVIDIA Driver Versions

Sometimes the latest driver may cause instability; try a slightly older version (e.g., from 2022-2023) that is known to be stable with your GPU.

Check for Overheating or Power Issues

Monitor GPU temperatures using HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner.

Ensure the laptop is on a flat, hard surface for proper airflow.

Consider using a cooling pad if temperatures are high.

Check Windows Power Plan

Go to Control Panel → Power Options → High Performance.

Click Change Plan Settings → Change Advanced Power Settings → PCI Express → Link State Power Management → Off.

I hope this helps.

Hi and thank you @Kuroi_Kenshi.

I have already tried all the suggested solutions. Would it be possible to get an older BIOS version for my configuration that would allow me to avoid the voltage and power anomalies caused by the latest versions?

After several analyses, I think it definitely comes from the latest BIOS version. I didn't have these problems before updating it, and even after reinstalling the latest version, the problems persist.

I’m not the only concerned by this problem, this user encountered the exact same problem : https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Notebooks/Event-ID-153-from-nvlddmkm-quot-Device-Video9-Error-o...
