Omen 15 2020
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello guys. I have a problem with my laptop. Left fan is spinning ALWAYS (in bios "fan always on" is OFF). Right fan is not spinning. Do you have any solutions? This laptop wasn't cheap, and its very uncommon in this price range, to have such weird issues. I don't run any software in background, and have it only for 5 days. I put link to youtube so you can check it out:

The OMEN 15 models have a terrible fan profile and there is not official way to control the fan speed for ryzen models.

Unless the CPU temperature goes under something like 38°C, the CPU fan will always run at a few thousand RPM, so it's pretty much always noisy. Many people complained about it since release, but I doubt HP will ever fix it. You can try contacting the support though.

As a workaround until it gets fixed, I use NoteBook FanControl with a custom profile and it works fine, no more noisy fans: https://github.com/hirschmann/nbfc/releases

Drop this xml into the Configs folder if you also have the 15-en00xx model: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16LD5PuA1NCV9ij8LkE7MxxUTkT5E3MvQ/view

Machine has 2 fans, they are controlled by heat sensors. One area is always hotter then other area therefore the sensor(s) "command" one fan must work harder. One fan may only run at few hundred RPM but other may run at few thousand RPM.

From my view, this is a good design, nothing wrong with that.

Regards.

I understeand, but this fan is spinning loudly even if I do nothing. The temps are cool, and it still spins for no reason. They all say that this laptop has good thermal design, and for modern laptops running 3 tabs in google chrome is no reason to turn the fan on. And for OMEN with spectacular specs and "awesome" thermal this is a reason to "be heared".  I understeand that it's not an ultrabook, but come on... Watching wallpaper with fan sound? They should be off in this temp/effort range, or am I getting wrong?

Ks0 you made my evening! Thank you so much, worked like a charm! HP should be ashamed anyway - laptop with macbook price tag and such issues. If there is any option, please mark this and similar topic to HP tech section, it should be fixed as soon as possible.
