@Hey1111, I have updated on my end my laptop to F14 (which is pretty much equal to F23 on your model) and it didn't improve anything. Choosing an operating system from the Drivers page only really changes the software set available on the page, the BIOS update packages are always visible no matter what you choose.
You can try upgrading your BIOS firmware, but I have my doubts that it will do anything unfortunately.

@alexblem48 Thanks for the reply! I’ll try to update it and see how it goes. However, I found an interesting YouTube video: “HP Omen Gaming Laptop Fans Not Spinning – Let’s Learn a Dodgy Shortcut 😄 #DodgingTheSystem” by Electronics Repair School.
He explains that the issue is caused by insufficient voltage reaching the fan. When he increased it from 3 volts to 5 volts, the fan started spinning. Instead of fixing the issue through software, he bypassed the system by directly connecting 5V to the fan, so it’s always spinning rather than waiting for a signal from the EC to decide when to turn on or off.
Maybe a recent BIOS update messed up the voltage control in the system.

My fans are 12V.
They’ve gotten worse over time, and now they’re not working at all. I suspect some hardware damage has occurred gradually.
I’d recommend not using the laptop and waiting for an update unless you really need to.

@Hey1111, I also came across that video. Honestly, not sure about the BIOS update part, maybe it can influence the motherboard to be more susceptible to dysfunctions, but I can't really confirm anything on my end.
Thanks,
Alexis

I have been having the same problem for more than a month now on my Omen 17-ck2002na. I managed to make do for a month by cranking my fans to a constant 3800. It appeared that the fans would stop once the CPU got close to 90c so manually setting the fan to a high speed kept the temp lower and stopped the fans turning off. But now it doesnt help, the fans just turn off under load and its impossible to do anything heavy on the laptop. I have tried everything possible to fix it, I'm using a dual drive dual boot system and the fans stop both on Windows and Linux and even in the boot up if I restart the laptop when hot which results in the 90b error. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the fans themselves and this is obviously not a software issue.

I forgot to link my post about the issue: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Notebooks/Another-Omen-fan-issue/td-p/9536820

@XPACx, thanks for your sharing your own experience.
On that note, I'd also like to take the time to give an update on my personal case.
On the hardware side of things: my laptop's battery connector decided to melt. I'm not kidding:
And no, I didn't tamper with it. This never happened with ANY of the laptops that I've ever owned in my life, and boy let me tell you that I'm probably one of the most caring people out there when it comes to maintaining perfect condition.
Even "funnier": that also has happened to someone else's laptop: https://www.reddit.com/r/HPOmen/comments/1p0b1yf/i_just_performed_openheart_surgery_on_my_hp/
I'm eager to know which model it is.
Still, HP decided to fully refund my laptop as per the Garantie légale de conformité ("legal conformity warranty" in English) which hereby obligates a manufacturer to do a full refund when a device dysfunctions like that. I am currently waiting for the money to appear on my bank account, so I'll probably post another message once I receive it.
Thanks,
Alexis

Hi Alexis, thanks for all the information you've been sharing and for shining a light on this problem. It will be really useful for me to try and get this sorted one way or another so I appreciate it. I will check my battery connection as well now, like you I have not seen that before!

Hello @XPACx, make sure to keep us updated on the matter! :]
On my end I've ordered my Tuxedo Stellaris 16, I expect to receive it in December. Still using the Omen with everything limited to 1.2 GHz so that I can still use the PC for basic tasks while waiting for the new one to arrive.
Once I'm back to France, I will probably attempt to repair the laptop by bypassing the rail that powers both fans, so that they are directly connected to 3.3/5V (I have yet to check the rating, so I'm just guessing right now). If this works I'll post another message with the full procedure... but this will probably require a properly calibrated wire, a soldering iron and a multimeter at the very least.
In the meantime, if anyone also attempts to do such a repair, please do it at your own risk. I'd recommend you to only do that if your warranty has expired or got cancelled after being refunded (like me).
