I have still this problem... half year and HP does nothing :D. I almost changed my mind to the hardware problem side but not. How you can explain lags stops for a while by clicking fn+f11. It's not any hardware switch. In black and white is the software/drivers problem, maybe bios i don't know, maybe someone disagree with me.
It is sad, We as customers did'nt get any official statement from HP from long time 😕

So, an update, sadly.
The "fix" I suggested after contacting the whatsapp support didn't work for long, on the second time I used the pc, the issue came back as usual. So sorry everyone for the false hope.
I've seen that someone already got that version of the driver, that's strange. In my case, it doesn't show up when I enter my serial/model or click for the auto detect, so it's newer than the one HP suggests for this specific machine.
The whatsapp support suggested to send the laptop for support.
Sent on tuesday afternoon, it arrived in Hungary the next morning (not to mention 4 days of problems/misunderstandings with UPS before sending it). On wednesday noon I got the confirmation it was already coming back.
Friday afternoon, arrival.
Paperwork says: os reinstalled (came back with win10 this time), parts used: motherboard (looks like they changed it, the screws look not as new as usual, so it may have actually been opened and worked inside in the couple of hours between arrival and re-shipping).
And here comes the most interesting part.
While updating Windows and restarting the computer multiple times, I noticed it began to malfunction again.
I restarted it again for the update to windows 11, and at the first start the touchpad was completely not working, until pressing fn+f11 two times...
So it doesn't look to be an os-related issue, as it was already having problems on win10.
Back to whatsapp support, again I got the suggestion of the driver, installed, reboot, 4 minutes and the issue is still here in front of me. I'm waiting for the reply, I bet the suggestion will be again technical assistance.
I'm in talk with the dealer to ship it back, I've wasted so much time for this machine, too bad because I like it, but can't use it.

Update from my side,
A few days after my second time receiving the laptop from repair, the touchpad is not working again.
I called to see if I can get a refund, but they only allow it a month after you buy the laptop (my issue started 2 months later and its been 6 months now).
So now I'm stuck with the laptop and I'm sending it for repairs for a third time. Just awesome.

Had a 2014 MacBook Pro and a 2014 Lenovo for the last eight years. Ran like a warm knife cutting through butter. Mac battery starts to give out, and Lenovo gets a corrupted file requiring repairs. So I decide to upgrade to an Omen 16.
So far? Terrible decision.
Not only am I having problems with the trackpad since day one, I’m having stuttering apps, high process games/apps like Stellaris and Adobe Premier that ran on my dinosaur Mac and Lenovo no problem barely run, audio is crackly, delayed response no matter what’s running, disabled, etc. It’s like I paid nearly 2K for a downgrade. It’s a nightmare. All I read about is how amazing the Omen 16 is as a gaming PC, and turns out, for all the hype, it’s practically unusable.
Really hope you guys get your issues resolved. My solution is to return my Omen and exchange it with something with similar specs, since I only bought this a week ago. That week though has been pouring through forums and articles trying to get this dumb thing to work. I’m not even typing this on my Omen it’s so terrible; I'm using my phone! Feel terrible that so many people are having similar issues.
HP needs to get it together, because after this? I wouldn’t recommend an HP printer, much less an HP computer, to my worst enemy.

Hi there,
It is clear that many people are experiencing this problem. I purchased my Omen 16 a few weeks ago and noticed this issue very quickly. After an extreme amount of trial and error (reinstalling drivers, performing various multitouch gestures in order to determine when the touchpad starts lagging etc.), I've discovered that the source of the problem is when you start to hard-click the touchpad.
As of this moment, I am not sure why this causes the touchpad to malfunction, so I cannot offer a robust solution - since reinstalling drivers (even older versions) did not help at all. However, I have reverted to gently double tapping the lower left corner of the touch pad (same as hard-clicking and holding the left button down) and dragging a second finger to perform common tasks such as selecting text and moving a window etc. Essentially, if you avoid hard-clicking the touchpad you should not experience the problem anymore.
This may not be the answer that everyone is looking for, but I hope it serves as a temporary solution until this problem is resolved.

Yup I noticed the same issue as well that it happened more often when ever you activated hard clicks, I actually went through 3 different omen 16's by returning and exchanging them from bestbuy and thought my last one didn't have the issue but eventually had the same problem. I did notice that even without hard clicking my issue still happens, but when using a separate mouse the laptop worked perfectly, just wished I didn't have the issues with just the use of a touch pad, pretty much defeats the purpose of a laptop.

Hi, this touchpad issue is caused by the design flaw of HP using an unshielded touchpad cable.
A user on reddit explains it better.
They have deleted the link of the post on reddit.
To search for the post you put in google "Solve the touchpad issue of OMEN laptop! : r/HPOmen - Reddit"

Finally a normal post. I wrote a month ago that this is a hardware issue. The touchpad started lagging with a strong rollback of the lid, or when clicking on the left corner, left click. 90% of people wrote that this is a software issue. I'm so glad you're finally clearing the air at last.

I don't think it's as simple as a software fix , most likely a firmware or hardware fix. Since I have tried going back to a fresh install of windows 10 and same issue. Also in the reddit post unfortunately someone stated they are using Linux and still having the same touchpad issues.
