Product: OMEN by HP Laptop 17-cb0xxx
Operating System: Linux
As far as I know, there's currently no way to manually control the fans apart from using Omen Control Center on Windows.
On Ubuntu, the fans tend to stay at minimum speeds whenever possible, leading to frequent thermal throttling ("CPU0: Package temperature above threshold, cpu clock throttled" in dmesg). It appears the only way for the fans to run at full speed is running graphics-intensive applications, which isn't really viable.
I've done some digging and it appears that fans control are handled completely by the firmware/EC.
Is there any way to manually control the fans under Linux? Any help would be appreciated.
