Product: OMEN 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC 17-ck1000 IDS Base Model
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

Hi guys,

 

I just received my 2022 Omen 17 Laptop with i7 12800Hx CPU. I am thing about upgrading and adding an M.2 SSD on the secondary SSD slot. May I know whether the secondary slot GEN4 or GEN3?

Hi:

 

HP only has the service manual for the older 17-ck0xxx model series.

 

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

 

According to chapter 5, page 33 for that model series, the 2nd M.2 slot is PCIe Gen 3.

 

NOTE: Solid-state drive (1) can house up to a Gen4 solid-state drive. Solid-state drive (2) can house up to a
Gen3 solid-state drive.

 

So unfortunately, no one here would be able to tell you with 100% accuracy what PCIe gen the second NVMe slot is on the 17-ck1xxx model series since there is no documentation available from HP.

so for anyone who is still interested, as I have tested, the second SSD slot is also Gen4.
