HP Omen
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Omen 17-W253DX -- 128gb SSD (OS & APP drive) -- 1TB SATA (storage) -- 32GB Ram

Win 10 Ver 21H1 Build 19043.1165 / 64 Bit

Work Performed:

* Installed a 'pulled' motherboard replacement. Pulled from an operating unit - board is an "exact" replacement (DAG37DMBAD0 REV D - MODEL G37D). #1 & #2 SATA connections on new board were bench tested. (Original MB had a failed charge circuit)

* Replaced power jack. (not really needed but with a full breakdown it was accessible)

* New 120W power supply.

* Upgraded Ram from 12GB (8/4 Samsung) to 32GB (2x16 Samsung).

* Booted up to windows first try after new parts install.

***** SATA Drive is not being detected *****

Diagnostic Status:

* All HP Updates are current. (Used Hp online check) It showed upgrades but none for hardware. APP's only.

* Metered SATA ribbon cable for continuity - Checks OK.

*SATA Drive (HP originally installed (1TB) reinstalled) Checked the drive on another laptop and it reads.

* Drive will not show in Disk Management. Scan Refresh does not find it.

* Have tried both sata ribbon motherboard connections.

1) I tried using the "All Drivers" - 'storage' driver list. Loaded the most recent driver - August 2019 Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver- Kaby Lake / Sky Lake

After loading it failed to boot to OS. Changed the bootup to 'no signature driver' and got back into OS - reverted back to the November 2016 Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver - Kaby Lake (Windows 10 v1703). System OS booted.

2) While the laptop was down for repairs (searching and waiting for a new board) the 1TB drive was accessed via usb external (Surface pro7- win10) to retrieve data for use. Would that access have changed the detection of the drive?

3) Not familiar with the newer BIOS screens? There is no options in the bios for drive connections? Is it all OS controlled now?

What am I missing??

Thanks in advance for any help.
