OMEN 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-ek1000(2B1K2AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've been having problems with the fan control on my OMEN 15-ek1000 laptop. I prefer the laptop to be more silent when I work, which is why I have the fan control set on custom and I only let it run on high speed when it gets hotter. But lately the fans completely ignore the setting and constantly run on high speed even when the laptop is at 50 °C. Even if I try to switch to automatic speed or the highest speed, nothing happens and the RPM shown is either stuck on 1700 or doesn't show at all, despite the fans going at least at 2500 speed.

Previously the problem got solved by rebooting the system but that doesn't work anymore. Sometimes shifting between the modes does help, but most of the time the control just freezes. The only thing that helps is forcefully closing the app from task manager and starting it again but since this problem happens every 5-10 minutes, that's rather inconvenient. Also when I reload the app, it freezes on loading very often and I have to forcefully close it and try again before it opens properly.

I tried updating the app, reinstalling it and updating various drivers from HP website but nothing seems to work. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

So I've performed a factory reset because nothing else worked and the fans are back to normal. Although I got another problem of not being able to install graphic drivers and update the Gaming Hub, so that's great. I believe it must have been a driver or an update that did this, so I should probably be glad xD

So, after a week of nice and quiet laptop use, my OMEN Gaming Hub updated and the problem came back. I tried not updating but the update forced itself and now my fans are going off even when the laptop is idle. Plus if I try to switch back and forth from automatic to manual fan control, sometimes that causes a system crash with no BSOD and no error in event log, save for the classic Kernel Power one.

I honestly wish I could just uninstall the Gaming Hub and be done with this but then the fans would be stuck on auto, which is pretty much the same. I really hope they fix this with the next update because it's incredibly annoying to have a brand new laptop doing this 😞
