OMEN by HP 15-dc0003la
Microsoft Windows 11

When I try to power on the laptop it stays with a black screen and shuts down by itself after 5 seconds. I have already tried leaving the laptop charge for a couple of hours but it's still doing the same thing.

Hi @Momolicious325,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your OMEN by HP 15 laptop might be experiencing a hardware issue. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the laptop from any power source.
  • Remove the battery if it’s removable.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning on the laptop again.

Check Power Supply and Charger:

  • Ensure that the power adapter and charging cable are securely connected and not damaged.
  • Try using a different power outlet or another compatible charger if available.

Inspect Hardware Components:

  • If you’re comfortable with it, open the laptop and check if the RAM and other internal components are securely seated. Loose components can sometimes cause boot issues.

Check for External Displays:

  • Connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV to see if there’s any display output. This can help determine if the issue is with the screen or the internal hardware.

Disconnect Peripherals:

  • Remove any connected peripherals (USB devices, external drives, etc.) and try powering on the laptop again.

Diagnostic Lights and Beeps:

  • Observe any diagnostic lights or listen for beeps when you try to power on the laptop. These can sometimes indicate specific hardware issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
