I have 2 profiles in my omen gaming hub,one with the fan speed auto and balanced power mode, the other with manual fan speed and performance power mode. I've set the auto switch between the profiles, however after I exit a game the fan speed is automatically stuck at 5000rpm. The profile does switch from performance to balanced, but the fan speed is somehow stuck even if the temperature is low (40 degrees celcius). The temporary solution I discovered is just manually switch to performance mode, disable auto switch, then selecting the balanced profile. This only occur at a random time as I could not find anything in common with previous occurrences. Is this just a software bug or is there something wrong with my laptop? I've tried reinstalling omen gaming hub several times but the issue is still there.

@ThePeruvian, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Based on your description, this appears to be a software-related issue with the OMEN Gaming Hub's auto-switching profile feature, rather than a hardware fault.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve or mitigate the issue:

Recommended Steps

Update BIOS and Drivers

Outdated BIOS or thermal management drivers can cause fan control issues.

  • Visit the HP Support page and enter your serial or product number.
  • Download and install the latest:
    • BIOS update
    • System Thermal Framework
    • OMEN Gaming Hub SDK Package

Reset OMEN Gaming Hub Settings

Sometimes, corrupted profile settings can cause erratic behavior.

  • Open OMEN Gaming Hub.
  • Go to Settings > Reset to Default.
  • Recreate your profiles manually after the reset.

Disable Auto-Switch Temporarily

Consider manually switching profiles after gaming sessions to avoid the fan getting stuck at high RPM.

Check for Background Processes: Sometimes, background apps (like game launchers or overlays) may keep the system in a high-performance state.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Unfortunately i think it’s a software bug. I’ve tried all possible solutions that you mentioned but the issue is still there. However now I noticed that it only occurs after exiting a certain game like valorant. The fan acts normally when quitting other games. Also it only specifically get stuck at 5000rpm (not 5800, the maximum fan speed)

@ThePeruvian, Thank you for your response and I appreciate the additional information especially that the issue occurs specifically after exiting Valorant and not other games. This helps narrow things down significantly.

Based on your observations, it’s very likely this is a software-level interaction between OMEN Gaming Hub and Riot’s Vanguard anti-cheat system, which may continue running in the background even after you exit Valorant. This can cause your system to remain in a semi-performance state, leading to the fan speed getting stuck at 5000 RPM.

Here are a few steps to try:

Manually End Vanguard Services After Exiting Valorant

  • After closing Valorant, open Task Manager and check for:
    vgc.exe
    RiotClientServices.exe
  • If either is running, right-click and end the task.
  • Wait a few seconds to see if the fan RPM begins to drop.

If this resolves the issue, we can explore automating the process for convenience.

Manually Switch to the Balanced Profile After Gaming

Instead of relying on the auto-switching, try manually selecting the Balanced profile from OMEN Gaming Hub after quitting Valorant. This can help reapply the correct fan and power settings more reliably.

Create a Valorant-Specific Profile

You can also try creating a custom “Valorant” profile in OMEN Gaming Hub with your preferred fan and power settings. Then, manually switch back to Balanced when you're done playing — this may help isolate the issue to that one profile and avoid confusion with the automatic switching logic.

I hope this helps!
