HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2145AX (552W2PA)

While playing PUBG on my HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2145AX (552W2PA) with a 4GB RTX graphics card, the game lags significantly when the charger is connected. However, when I unplug the charger, the lag reduces slightly. Unfortunately, I cannot play for an extended period without connecting the charger.

My charger is 150W, and I even tried using another charger to check if the issue was related to the power adapter, but the problem persisted. I also contacted HP Assistance, but they could not resolve the issue. Initially, the game ran smoothly while the charger was connected, but this problem started recently, and I am unsure of the exact cause.

I have already tried adjusting power management settings in the battery options and modifying NVIDIA graphics card settings as suggested online, but none of these solutions worked. Kindly provide a proper solution to resolve this issue.

Hi @Rajeev2025,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop running slow!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

That’s frustrating! Let's troubleshoot systematically since the lag happens only when the charger is plugged in:

Check Power Plan Settings: Go to Control Panel > Power Options. Select High Performance (or create a custom plan with max performance settings). Click on Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings. Expand Processor Power Management > Maximum Processor State and set both Plugged in & On battery to 100%.

Adjust NVIDIA Settings: Open NVIDIA Control Panel. Go to Manage 3D Settings > Global Settings. Set Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance.
