Hi @Allupal

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Here’s how you can troubleshoot and potentially enable Performance Mode on your HP Victus laptop:

1. Check the Power Settings in Windows

A. Select High-Performance Power Plan:

  1. Open Power Options:
    • Right-click on the battery icon in the system tray (bottom right of the screen) and click Power Options.
    • Alternatively, you can go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings.
  2. Choose High Performance:
    • If available, select the High Performance power plan. This plan prioritizes performance over energy efficiency. It may not be visible by default, so if you don’t see it, follow the next steps to reveal it.

B. Show Additional Power Plans:

  1. If you don’t see a "High Performance" plan:
    • Open the Control Panel (press Windows key + R, type control, and press Enter).
    • Go to Power Options.
    • Click on Show additional plans to reveal the High Performance plan.

2. HP Omen Command Center (or HP Performance Controls)

A. Install or Reinstall HP Omen Command Center:

  1. Download HP Omen Command Center from the HP support page or the Microsoft Store.
  2. Once installed, open HP Omen Command Center and look for performance-related settings. It might allow you to switch between Balanced, Performance, or Silent modes, depending on your hardware.

B. HP Performance Controls:

  1. If you’re using a Victus laptop (and not an OMEN series laptop), check if there’s a similar HP Performance Controls app pre-installed on your laptop. This could provide additional performance modes, including a Turbo Mode or Performance Mode.
  2. You can access this software by searching for it in the Start Menu.

3. BIOS Settings

A. Access the BIOS:

  1. Power off the laptop.
  2. Turn it on and immediately press the ESC key or F10 repeatedly until the BIOS menu appears.
  3. Look for any performance settings or power management options. Depending on your BIOS version, there may be an option to select between Balanced, Power Saving, and High Performance modes.

4. Update Drivers and BIO

A. Update BIOS:

  1. Go to the HP Support website and search for your Victus 15 model (15-fa1000).
  2. Download the latest BIOS update for your laptop model and follow the instructions to update it.

B. Update HP Software:

  • Open the HP Support Assistant app (if it’s installed) or download it from the HP website.
  • Check for any available updates for drivers, BIOS, and other HP software.

Disable Battery Saver and Power Throttling:

  • Go to Settings > System > Battery.
  • Disable Battery saver if it’s on.
  • Also, check for Power Throttling settings and ensure they're off during gaming or performance-intensive tasks.

5 System Health Check

A. Check System Temperatures:

B. Clean and Repaste:

7. HP Victus vs OMEN Performance Modes

If you're used to the OMEN Command Center, it’s important to note that HP Victus laptops, while gaming-focused, don’t always include all of the features available in the OMEN series, especially for power modes. If you're not able to find Performance Mode, it could be that your Victus laptop doesn't have a dedicated performance mode like OMEN devices do.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

tell me why there is only balanced power plan and if i try to add then other power plan does not even spawn there. there is only balanced. do I need windows 10 to get features?

Hi @Allupal

It sounds like you’re encountering an issue with power plans on your Windows 11 system, where only the Balanced plan appears, and you're unable to add or switch to other plans like High Performance or Power Saver.

1. Power Plan Availability in Windows 11

Windows 11, by default, might not show all power plans, particularly if the system is using manufacturer-specific power management settings (like those from your laptop’s OEM, e.g., HP). This could also happen if certain features are hidden for simplicity or due to configuration settings.

2. Why "Balanced" is Showing and Others Are Missing

  • OEM Customizations: If you're using a pre-built laptop or desktop (e.g., HP, Dell), some manufacturers replace or hide certain Windows power plans to provide their own optimized power management settings.
  • Fast Startup: Windows 11 may have certain settings enabled (like Fast Startup) that can prevent certain power plans from showing up.
  • Missing System Files or Corruption: Sometimes, system files related to power management can become corrupt or missing, which can cause plans not to appear.

Hope this answer your question,

Have a great day 🙂
