OMEN by HP Transcend 16 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-u0000 (765S3AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, recently the keyboard on my laptop got wrong colors on just some of the keys. I assume it might be a software issue but i tried updating lighting studio. Updated windows, bios, all drivers, uninstalled and re installed omen gaming hub and lighting studio, created new profile but nothing helped.

Hi @GGLL

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the issue—I'm really sorry the keyboard lighting on your OMEN by HP Transcend 16-u0000 is behaving unpredictably. When only certain keys show incorrect colors despite full software updates and profile resets, it often points to a lighting controller conflict or a corrupted lighting profile at the firmware level.

Let’s walk through a focused recovery process to help restore proper lighting behavior:

Step-by-Step Fix for Incorrect Keyboard Colors

1. Uninstall All Lighting Components

Fully remove all lighting-related software to clear residual configurations:

  • Uninstall OMEN Gaming Hub and OMEN Light Studio
  • Open File Explorer and delete these folders (if present):
    • C:\ProgramData\HP\OMEN
    • C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\HP
    • C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\HP

This ensures no corrupted profiles or cached lighting data remain.

2. Install OMEN SDK Package

This package restores communication between the lighting controller and software.

Installing the SDK first ensures proper device detection and lighting control.

3. Create a New Static Lighting Profile

  • Open OMEN Gaming Hub
  • Navigate to Lighting > OMEN Light Studio
  • Select Static Mode
  • Assign a uniform color to all zones or keys

This helps reset any misaligned RGB mapping and avoids animation conflicts.

4. Check for Firmware Updates

  • In OMEN Gaming Hub, go to Settings > Updates
  • Install any available firmware updates for the keyboard or lighting controller

Firmware updates often resolve zone mapping issues and restore full RGB control.

5. Test in BIOS Environment

  • Restart your laptop and enter BIOS using Esc or F10
  • Observe the keyboard lighting behavior

If the lighting appears incorrect even in BIOS, the issue may be hardware-related.

Let me know what happens after reinstalling the SDK and creating a static profile—I’ll guide you further based on that. You’re doing everything right by staying persistent—I’ll stay with you until it’s resolved.

I followed all the steps but it did not help.

However i tried to change the color to static. if its set to completely red its okay, completely green is okay but if its set to blue there are mismatches to those 3 keys which makes me thing that the problem is hardware related unfortunately.

If is set the color to white, these 3 keys are yellow so it makes me think that the 3rd color is not working for some reason.
