Hi @yaiki,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your Victus by HP gaming laptop is experiencing some issues with its cooling system. If the fan speed is showing as 0 in the HP Omen app and the cooling system is turning off and on intermittently,

here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

Update Drivers and BIOS:

  • Ensure that your BIOS and all drivers are up to date. You can check for updates on HP's support website or through the HP Support Assistant app.

Check HP Support Assistant:

  • Open the HP Support Assistant app and run a diagnostic test. This may help identify any issues with the cooling system or other hardware components.

Clean the Vents and Fans:

  • Dust and debris can obstruct the cooling system. Make sure the vents and fans are clean. You can use compressed air to blow out any dust from the vents.

Check the Cooling Settings:

  • Some gaming laptops have configurable cooling profiles. Check the HP Omen app or BIOS settings to ensure that the cooling settings are properly configured. You might find settings for performance, quiet, or balanced modes.

Inspect for Hardware Issues:

  • If the problem persists, it might be a hardware issue. Ensure that the cooling fan is properly connected to the motherboard and check if it is physically damaged.

Run a Thermal Test:

  • Use the HP Omen app or another thermal monitoring tool to check the temperature of your CPU and GPU. Overheating can cause the fans to behave erratically.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off your laptop, unplug it, and remove the battery if it's removable. Hold the power button for about 15 seconds to perform a hard reset. Reconnect everything and check if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.
