Hi there. Last year i bought a HP Omen 15-ce004na and was very disappointed by its speed. I therefore want to put an SSD into my laptop. I was wondering if this was possible and if so what type and size i could use. I was looking at a M.2 128GB one on Amazon, but wanted to know if this would work with my laptop.
Thanks

Hi,
Yes, you can insert an M2 PCIe NVMe SSD such as the M2 Samsung 970 Evo Plus or similar which will greatly increase the everyday performance of the PC. You can get of your desired capacity. I would go with at least 256Gb or more if you are installing lots of games. You will need to reinstall the OS on the SSD for performance gain.
The best choice is to create a bootable pendrive with media creation tool you can download from Microsoft
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
and use the drive to perform a clean install. I would remove the hard drive, insert the SSD, install Windows, Install HP support assistant
https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html
and then completely update. Reinstall the hard drive and remove the Windows partitions.
On page 33 of the service manual you can see the steps to install the drive:

Hope it helps,
David

Hi David,
Thanks for your reply. Can you think of any cheeper SSDs (£35-£45) which will work with my laptop. Would this work:
And will the standard Samsung 970 Evo work? Not the 'Plus' version.
Thanks

You're welcome. Yes, they will both work. The P1 you can see that it is guaranteed compatible with your notebook on the Crucial site
