Hello!

I have 2 questions regarding the keyboard:

1) Is there no way at all on my laptop (victus 15-fb3000) to change keyboard's backlight brightness? I'd love to use it, but the backlight is at least twice as bright as the brightness I use for my screen (yes, I keep brightness very, very low)...

2) Is there no way at all yet to actually remap the Copilot and Omen app keys? I know I can remap the F23 input to something else, but that's not remapping the whole key; I've also read that the Omen app key is not recognizable by any app on newer laptops and that it basically worked as F24

In case there's actually no solution at all, is anything being worked on to make it possible?

Hi @Limone_,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I completely understand how important comfort and customization are when using your notebook, and I’m happy to clarify both points for you.

1) Keyboard Backlight Brightness
The Victus 15-fb3000 keyboard backlight is controlled using the F4 key (or Fn + F4, depending on your function key settings). This key allows you to cycle through the available backlight states, typically Off, Low, and High brightness.

If the lowest setting still appears too bright compared to your screen brightness, it is due to the hardware design of the keyboard. At this time, there is no additional software control to further dim the backlight beyond the preset levels.

2) Remapping the Copilot and OMEN Keys
The Copilot and OMEN dedicated keys are designed as special function keys integrated at the firmware level to provide quick access to their respective applications. Because of this hardware-level configuration, full remapping of these keys is currently not supported.

While some third-party tools may detect related inputs (such as F23/F24), they typically cannot remap the complete key behavior. HP is continuously evaluating customer feedback for future product improvements, and I will be sure to pass your comments along to the appropriate teams.

We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and suggestions, as they help us enhance future devices.

If you have any additional questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reply. We’re always here to help.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi Vikram,

1) Fn+F4 only switches backlight on and off, without any intermediate lighting level

2) Well, just the F23 remapping isn't really that effective, especially if you're remapping it to right ctrl, because of the other inputs of the Copilot key... The Omen key isn't even recognized by keystroke readers or anything good for remaining. I tried remapping F24 without success though SharpKeys
