Hi HP Team,

I have HP Pavilion Gaming 15 (cx0078tx) laptop. Currently, I have 2 of 4 GB of RAM installed. I am looking to upgrade it but i don't know what is the max speed frequency my laptop can handle.

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates the max memory is 2 x 8 GB.

There usually is no problem installing 2 x 16 GB of memory in notebooks that have the Intel 8th gen core processors such as yours.

If you want to see if your notebook can support more than 2 x 8 GB of memory, you can run this command in Windows Powershell as administrator:

Get-CimInstance -ClassName Win32_PhysicalMemoryArray | Select-Object MaxCapacityEx, MemoryDevices

The maximum speed your notebook's processor can run the memory at is 2666 MHz.

You can install DDR4-2666 CL19 or DDR4-3200 CL22 memory but the 3200 memory will run at 2666 MHz.
