I want to upgrade the RAM on my gaming laptop, I have a "HP Victus 16.1” GeForce RTX 3050 Gaming Laptop"
I followed the instructions in the link below to see what the max capacity of RAM it can handle is, and divided by the number in that question, and it gives me 32GB. I'm wondering if that sounds right to anyone? because it only has 2 slots for RAM (from what the system details say, I haven't opened it up yet) and I want to be certain before I order RAM sticks.

Welcome to our HP User Forum!
Your Victus by HP Laptop 16-d0020nr (43M64UA), looking here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c07807897, and especially here: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-victus-16-d0020nr, and/or here: https://www.memorystock.com/memory/HewlettPackardVictus16e0020nr.html, suggests that your laptop should be able to be fitted with up to 2 x 32GB of DDR4 PC4-25600, 3200 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, SODIMM, 260-pin RAM modules, down throttled to 2933 MHz. But few people actually really need this much RAM.
Anyway, your laptop certainly can be fitted with 2 x 16GB of DDR4 PC4-25600 RAM. It is strongly recommended to 'stick' with identical RAM sticks (same brand, model, capacity) for best (dual channel/rank) RAM performance.
Hope this was helpful.
Kind Regards,
