hp pavillion 15-cw1xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

A couple of days ago I bought the hp pavillion 15-cw1xxx. It works great. Although its not specifically designed for gaming it does work relatively well on League Of Legends. The fps is good for the laptop  (70-100fps) and my ms/ping is still the same as it was with my previous laptop which was a hp omen gaming laptop (37-39ms). However for some reason the internet keeps spiking to +200ms. Its not like only when i fight but just randomly and its really annoying because it will freeze and then show the ping spike. Its not a constant lag where I will disconnect or anything but will just lag and go back to 38ms but it happens at least 10 times in a 40min game. I really dont know what to do. My internet has never been a problem and evne when it was it was obvious where it was full on laggin not spikes, ESPECIALLY FOR A NEW LAPTOP. I dont run much apps when Im playing and I even tried looking at task manager. Its fine. I dont know if its the laptop because im not really computer knowledgeable but I just want to play a normal game without it spiking and freezing every second. PLEASEEE HELP.. THANKS.

@Brahim_Hasan-54 Welcome to HP Community!

Please follow the steps listed below to improve the FPS on your Intel Graphics adapter:

  • Update the graphics card driver using the HP website: click here to find and install the same.
  • Increase the amount of RAM - by increasing the shared memory under system properties > Advanced > Performance settings > Advanced > Change Virtual memory > use the recommended file size for paging.
  • Make sure the graphics card is not in power saving mode - If you are after maximum performance of you Intel HD Graphics, make sure you have turned off all of its power saving features. That is why in order to achieve maximum performance you have to make sure that your Windows power plan is not on Power Saver, you can use the Balanced or the High Performance power plan. You can also click the Intel HD Graphics driver tray icon (it should be near the clock in the taskbar), select Graphics Properties, then click the Power tab and select Maximum Performance.

    Please, note that although this tip will certainly improve your Intel HD Graphics' performance it will also increase the power it draws, as well as the heat it generates under heavy load (which is the case for games). Caution is advised, especially if you are on a laptop that experiences temperature problems.
  • Set the 3D preference of Intel HD Graphics to "Performance" - This trick will help you improve the frame rate in games. To apply it click the Intel HD Graphics driver tray icon, select Graphics Properties, then click the 3D tab and move the slider to Performance. In this way, you sacrifice a bit of image quality for improved 3D performance, which should lead to a few more frames per second (FPS)

Let me know how that pans out,

I have been facing a similar problem while playing the game. Especially on the campus network, where I spend most of my time. I literally tried everything from top to bottom consisting of OS tweaks, Network tweaks, using a different wireless adapter but all effort in vain. Luckily, I came across a thread on another tech forum (toms) where many fellow gamers who were previously facing the issue shared their experience along with what kind of alternative/ solution they were able to use to counter this problem. From there, for the first time in my life, I understood how meaningful a VPN could be for a gamer like us. Out of many recommendations, I tried a few and then settled for PureVPN which allows me to play the game without any hassle by simply connecting to any of the available servers close to my location. By using PureVPN I am also able to unlock many other region-locked games and content (DLC) and not to forget enjoy more economical prices of games when it comes to purchasing new games because all major launching platforms are offering different prices in different regions, and this is exactly where using a VPN proves healthy. The best approach would be to go search on google about PureVPN or any other vpn service and see which one suits you the best, in my case as mentioned already I am able to achieve wonders and enjoy gaming once again both at home and campus without any hassle or issues which usually a NAT type network does.
