Hello,

I am having HP Omenx 17 ap010nr (core i7 7th gen) gaming laptop.

I am having issue in display whereas display goes off suddenly by showing blank colored screen like green/orange/pink/white. After multiple methods its not getting repaired. Technician suggested to disable the graphics card or change the motherboard. Please suggest me where can I get the exact part for this laptop if I change the entire motherboard?

Hi @Binayak06,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding display issues on the HP Omen X 17!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Let's try a few steps before considering a repair.

1. Check the Display Connection:

  • External Monitor Test: Connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if the issue is also present there. This can help determine if the problem is with the laptop's display or the graphics card.
  • Restart your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary display glitches.

2. Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Driver Update: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Visit the HP Support website or use the HP Support Assistant to check for and install any available updates for your graphics drivers.

3. Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Reset Procedure: Power off the laptop, unplug it from any power source, and remove the battery if applicable. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. Reconnect everything and power on the device.

4. Check for Overheating:

  • Cooling System: Overheating can cause display issues. Make sure that your laptop's vents are not blocked and that the cooling system is working properly. Consider using a cooling pad.
  • Clean the Vents: Use compressed air to clean dust from vents and fans.

5. Test in Safe Mode:

  • Safe Mode Check: Boot your laptop into Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. If the problem doesn't occur in Safe Mode, it could be related to third-party software or drivers.

6. BIOS Update:

  • Update BIOS: Sometimes a BIOS update can resolve hardware compatibility issues. Download the latest BIOS version from the HP Support website specific to your laptop model.

7. Hardware Diagnostics:

  • HP Hardware Diagnostics: Run the HP Hardware Diagnostics tests to check for any potential hardware issues that might be causing the display problem. These tools can be accessed during startup by pressing F2 or Esc.

I hope this helps.
