Regular Crashing - Screen Freeze and Buzzing Sound

Hello,

I've had this laptop for a long time now, and I've never changed its battery, only the fan system. I now got the OMEN BIOS warning about my battery reaching <25% of its capacity, so I'm ordering a new one. My issue is that I get regular crashes when gaming and never when the laptop is just running, or doing less performance-based tasks. When the crashes occur, the screen usually freezes still (no blue or black screen) and I hear a constant buzzing sound (or sometimes no sound) and so I have to force quit my device by holding the power button; nothing else works.

I am wondering whether this is an issue that could be fixed after inserting the new battery, caused by irregulated voltage crashing my laptop, or if there is something else to it. I don't believe the device is overheating, and I am not sure what the problem is. What should I do?

Battery & Power Delivery Issues

• Since your battery is at <25% capacity, it may not be delivering consistent power, especially during high-performance tasks like gaming.
• When the laptop requires more power (CPU/GPU load spikes), an unstable battery could cause voltage drops, leading to system crashes.
  ✅ Solution: Wait for your new battery and test if the issue persists. If it does, try running the laptop without the battery (just on AC power) and see if it still crashes.v

GPU Driver / Windows Updates

• Outdated or corrupted GPU drivers can cause screen freezing with buzzing sounds.
  ✅ Solution:
  • Reinstall GPU drivers using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) and then install the latest NVIDIA drivers.
  • Ensure Windows and BIOS are up to date.

Power Adapter Issues

• If your charger is faulty or underpowered, your laptop might crash under load.
  ✅ Solution: Try using another compatible 230W HP charger (or higher if needed).

I got the new battery installed, but the issue persists, so I'll try all the methods below and update you on anything that comes up, thank you!

So I basically tried everything mentioned other than buying a new power adapter, which I will probably have to anways, but I was wondering if there is a way for me to show you shy my laptop is shutting down by sharing the system error logs or something of the sort? Let me know, please as that is something I would prefer to do before getting a new power adapter, just to be sure what the problem is.

Issue is still the same, and even without a battery and with new reinstalled and latest drivers, that doesn't make any difference....

Your laptop's crashes during gaming could be related to the failing battery, as unstable voltage can definitely cause system instability. Replacing the battery is a good first step. If the problem persists after that, consider checking for driver updates, especially for your graphics card, and running hardware diagnostics to rule out other issues. Also, make sure your laptop is properly ventilated to avoid any hidden overheating problems.

Update: I bought the new charging cable and installed the battery, and I think I have found something out. When gaming while my laptop is not charging, it works fine and does not crash at all, although running less smoothly. After plugging in the laptop to power, it always crashes when gaming, sometimes immediately when running a game, or some minutes later. What could cause this?

Could this be caused by voltage issues from the old battery, and will a new one fix it? Or is there another problem? I don’t think it’s overheating.
