- I bought the new HP Omen 16 WF 1096TX on 02/02/2025. Right from the next day i noticed that the right arrow key is getting struck and returning back to orginal position only after sometime. That too it's producing a sound while coming back to its position. Really frustrating with this. Hard to work particularly in Excel and other works. Whether anyone is experiencing this issue?

Hi @Dinesh4756
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your HP Omen 16 WF 1096TX keyboard right after purchase. It can be incredibly frustrating to experience a malfunction with a brand-new laptop, especially when it’s affecting productivity with tasks like Excel. A stuck key is definitely not something you should be dealing with on a new device.
Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot or resolve the issue:
1. Inspect for Debris or Foreign Objects
- Sometimes, dirt, dust, or small particles can get under the keys and cause them to stick or make a sound. Gently clean around the right arrow key with a can of compressed air to see if there’s any debris lodged underneath.
- You can also try using a soft brush or a microfiber cloth to clean the key and surrounding area.
2. Check for Keyboard Software Issues
- Ensure that the keyboard drivers are up-to-date. You can do this by visiting the HP support website or checking for updates through Device Manager.
- If there are any custom settings or macros for your keyboard (especially if it’s a gaming laptop), try resetting them to default to see if that resolves the issue.
3. Test with External Keyboard
- To rule out whether it’s a hardware issue with the laptop’s built-in keyboard, try connecting an external USB keyboard. If the external keyboard works without the stuck key issue, it's likely a problem with the laptop’s internal keyboard.
4. Reboot and Reset the Laptop
- Sometimes, software glitches can cause issues with the keyboard. Try restarting your laptop to see if that resolves the problem. Additionally, you could perform a soft reset to clear any temporary issues:
- Turn off the laptop and unplug it.
- Hold the power button down for about 30 seconds to perform a soft reset.
- Plug it back in and power it on.
5. Keyboard Troubleshooter (Windows)
- Windows has a built-in keyboard troubleshooter that can sometimes help detect and fix issues automatically:
- Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Select Keyboard under "Find and fix other problems" and run the troubleshooter to see if it finds any issues.
I hope this helps.
