Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 (8B483AV)

Running Victus on external power  :
Is it possible to run Victus on completely on external Power, by passing the Battery?
Whenever connected to power adapter.  Its like running a Desktop System.

So that, it will help to extent the  battery life ( Charge / Dis-charges cycles).
Kindly notify the solution.
Thanks in advance.

Hi @RPM9X9,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

You can run your HP Victus on external power while bypassing the battery, but it requires some specific steps. Here are a few options:

1. BIOS Settings

  • Access BIOS:
    • Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 repeatedly as it starts to enter the BIOS setup.
  • Look for Power Settings:
    • Check if there are any power management options related to the battery or charging behavior. Some BIOS versions may allow you to disable battery charging while connected to power.

2. Windows Power Settings

  • Set Battery to Not Charge:
    • Some HP laptops have power management software (like HP Command Center) that allows you to limit battery charging. Check if this option is available.
  • Adjust Power Plan:
    • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep and adjust the power plan settings to optimize performance while plugged in.

3. Remove the Battery (if possible)

  • Physical Removal:
    • If your Victus has a removable battery, consider removing it while using the laptop plugged in. This will ensure the laptop runs solely on external power. Only do this if you're comfortable and the device supports it.

4. Use a Power Adapter with Higher Wattage

  • Check Wattage:
    • Ensure you are using the appropriate power adapter with sufficient wattage to support your laptop's performance needs.

5. Monitoring Software

  • HP Command Center:
    • If available, use HP Command Center to monitor battery health and adjust settings related to power usage.

6. Battery Maintenance Practices

  • Battery Health Management:
    • Consider using settings that allow the battery to remain at a certain percentage (like 50-80%) to extend its lifespan when not removed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
