OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-xf0000 (758R1AV)

HP OMEN 16 xf0060ax CPU Ryzen 7 7840HS power limited due APU STAPM LIMIT at 65W

while running Cinebench R23 CPU is not pushing above 65W even having Thermal headroom and I have cross checked from the HWInfo PL1 limit is 100W and PL2 limit is 125W (Turbo with PBO).

Before a year ago in 2024 it can score upto 17000 in multi and 1700 in single core in Cinebench R23 with upto 90W power utilisation but now I dont know how this APU STAPM Limit is reaching making CPU power limited to 65W.

Please anyone have solution to this issue please reply

Is this issue related to BIOS ???

Hi @Abhay004,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for your detailed report regarding the STAPM limit issue (65W) on your OMEN by HP 16-xf0060ax with the Ryzen 7 7840HS processor. We understand how important performance is for your gaming and productivity needs, and we appreciate your patience.

Please try the steps shared below and let us know how it works:

1. Check for the Latest BIOS Update

Please visit the official support page for your model and ensure you have the latest BIOS version installed:

If a newer BIOS version is available, download and install it. BIOS updates often include performance tuning and thermal management improvements.

2. Use HP Support Assistant

You can also check for BIOS and firmware updates using HP Support Assistant:

  • Open HP Support Assistant from your Start menu.
  • Go to My Devices > Updates.
  • Install any available BIOS or system firmware updates.

🔗 Check for a BIOS update using HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

3. Thermal and Power Settings

Ensure your system is set to Performance Mode in:

  • OMEN Gaming Hub > Performance Control

Windows Power Settings > High Performance

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

I have checked all the steps

Checked the BIOS from HP Support Assist and Even from the HP website and installed it again

still facing same issue

Windows is set to High Performance mode and even Precision Boost Overdrive is ON and Performance mode is toggled in OMEN GAMING HUB.

Still the issue persists.

Please resolve my issue as I have contacted HP and even AMD but still no response from their side as well

Can your support team would roll out a new BIOS update for my laptop

as after F.29 Revision A update this APU STAPM LIMIT issue started.

I have contacted AMD as well they were also saying to download latest BIOS update

Hi @Abhay004,

Thank you for getting back. F.29 is the latest version; there are no other versions released at this time. If released, you will get an update instantly on your Pc through our HP support assistant.

Also, certain fixes can only be done via remote assistance.

Related to the update, I could only suggest that you wait for the release. We will be forwarding your message to our team, but this will take time for the BIOS release.

Is there anything I can help with apart from this? Keep me posted.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
