HP OMEN Notebook PC 15-5012TX
Microsoft Windows XP (64-bit)
Hi, I used the full and current version of the Acronis True Image 'Clone' option to copy the contents of my existing 500GB M.2 SSD (Samsung MZHPU512HCGL-000H1) to a new 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SATA M.2 using an external M.2 NGFF SSD SATA TO USB 3.0 enclosure. The computer is an HP Omen 15-5012TX notebook. The cloning appeared to work, ie no error messages and your software recognised the 1TB SSD etc.

I replaced the existing 500GB SSD with the new 1TB SSD in the Omen. No problems. On startup, the Omen instantly displays a blue 'Recovery' screen saying 'Your PC/Device needs to be repaired. A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed. Error code: 0xc000000e. You'll need to use recovery tools.... (see attached).

I have updated the BIOS in the OMEN and I have repeated the process 3 times but to no avail, the same error is displayed.

I ran the HP BIOS Hard drive tests while the 1TB SSD was installed with no errors (see attached)

Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong?
Many thanks,
Rob

@Tibb, welcome back to the forum.

The only suggestion that I have is,  use Samsung's Data Migration software to clone the SSD.  I always use it to clone my HDD's and SSD's.  It seems to work best with Samsung's drives.  I would try it to see if it works better.  Once the drive is installed you can use Samsung's Magician software to tweak the SSD for best performance.

Thanks for your quick response. The cloning software worked fine after I formatted the SSD!

Used CMD then DiskPart | List Disk | selected disk 1 | clean | then used below to format the SSD

  1. Open Control Panel.
    1. Search for ‘Administration tools’
    2. Select ‘ Computer Management’
    3. Select ‘Disk Management’
    4. Format the new SSD (Setting partition to GPT)

Thanks again. Much appreciated.
