The model of my laptop is HP pavilion gaming model:16-a0024ne
I want to extend the storage of the main SSD which is 256GB so is the SSD being replaced or there is a space for another SSD?

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)
It has support for one 2.5" drive and one M.2 NVMe SSD.
If you want more NVMe storage, you will have to replace the M.2 NVMe SSD with one having a greater storage capacity.
