I have purchased a new HP Omen 16, Intel Core i7-14650HX 14th Gen, 8GB RTX 5050, 24GB DDR5(Upgradeable) 1TB SSD, 165Hz, 2k WUXGA, 3ms, 400 nits, 16''/40.6cm, Win11, M365* Office24, Black, 2.43kg, am0241TX.
I want to add a 4tb SSD to the empty slot and need to check the compatilbility. The HP manual mentions only upto 2Tb ssd but I read on some forums that people have also put 4+4 tb ssd's. However it's for a slightly different model.
I want to confirm if 4tb WD SN7100 available on the linked site is compatible with this laptop. I had chatted with customer care but they asked me to visit HP store and buy SSD from there and check compatibility with service centre.
I hope members of this community can suggest a suitable 4tb ssd for data partition, which should be available in India

Installing a 4 TB NVMe SSD in the empty slot should be fine.
Theoretically, there is no limit to the storage capacity of the NVMe SSD you can install as long as the drive is single-sided so it fits in the M.2 slot.
The WD Blue SN7100 would be a good choice as would be the Crucial P310.
Unfortunately, this is not a good time to upgrade memory or install SSDs due to the unusually high costs as a result of the memory chip shortage.

You're very welcome.
I agree that prices will remain at all-time highs for at least another year or so until the memory chip manufacturers can ramp up production to meet demands.
I believe that the AI revolution is behind this shortage.
