Pavilion 15-ak049TX gaming laptop

Hi, recently I kept encountering my laptop scrolling by itself and whenever I tried to press space before a word in google search bar, it will jump into the end after the word. In addition, whenever I wanted to highlight the whole words in the search bar, I couldn't do it at all.

Hello @Dre3am

That behavior is usually caused by the sensitivity of the touchpad as your hand scrapes by it.

I assume you haven't tried adjusting that yet.

Go to All Settings from the Windows Taskbar.

Choose Devices, then click on Touchpad from the left side options.

Choose Additional Settings.

In the new window, select ClickPad Settings tab.

Click on ClickPad Settings button.

Click on the Gear icon for SmartSense.

Move the slider to the left to turn off SmartSense.

See if that helps.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

The solution you have suggested doesn't help. In addition, my hands did not scrape by the touchpad whenever I have encountered the problem.

Is this happening in Google Chromes browser? If so, have you tried a different browser?

This happened to google chrome. It also happened to other browser platform and even in the file folders in my laptop.

You dont actually have to touch the touch pad to cause a reaction. You might softly touch any other area of the top of the laptop. Some users have claimed changing the registry values for Palmks to 0 made a difference.

Type regedit in the Searchbar and hit the Enter key.

In the Registry, go to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Defaults, and set the value of the first 3 string entries of PalmKms…, to 0.

If that does not help, Im not sure what is happening on your system.

It doesn't help too.
