I have an HP Omen 15 (OMEN Laptop - 15-en0002ax) running Windows 10 22H2. When I visited HP's official website to check for updates, it detected my system and prompted me to select my OS and version. However, under Windows 10, it only lists 1909, 2004, and 20H2—there is no option for 22H2. The website states that if my OS version isn't listed, either the required updates will be downloaded automatically, or HP does not support my version.
Upon comparing updates for 20H2 and 22H2, I noticed that 20H2 has newer updates (from 2024) for the BIOS and other drivers, while my system is still running older versions from 2022.
I haven't necessarily faced any major performance issues, but my drivers are clearly outdated. Additionally, my right fan sometimes rattles, and many users have suggested that updating to the latest BIOS might help fix this issue.
What should I do? Should I manually install the 20H2 drivers and BIOS, or will this cause compatibility issues with Windows 10 22H2?

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's generally safe to install Windows 10 20H2 drivers on Windows 10 22H2, as both versions are based on the same core OS with only minor feature updates. However, there are a few things to consider before proceeding.
BIOS Updates
- The BIOS update is independent of Windows versions and applies to your hardware directly. If your laptop model and motherboard match the BIOS update listed for 20H2, you can safely install it.
- Since you mentioned a rattling right fan, updating the BIOS may help if the update includes fan control optimizations.
Drivers Compatibility
- Most drivers for Windows 10 20H2 should work fine on 22H2 because Windows 10 has maintained driver compatibility across updates.
- If the HP website shows newer drivers for 20H2, it's likely that HP simply hasn't updated their listings for 22H2.
- Exception: Avoid chipset drivers or firmware updates unless you're sure they're compatible.
Windows Update and OEM Sources
- Before manually installing drivers, check Windows Update → Optional Updates for driver updates.
- You can also check HP Support Assistant or OEM websites (Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, Realtek, etc.) for newer versions.
Manual Installation Steps
If you decide to install the 20H2 drivers manually:
- Backup your system (create a restore point or full system backup).
- Start with the BIOS update (if applicable).
- Install drivers one at a time, prioritizing GPU, chipset, and fan-related updates.
- Test system stability after each update.
Note:
Yes, you can install the 20H2 drivers and BIOS on 22H2, but proceed cautiously. The BIOS update might help with the fan issue, and newer drivers could improve performance. However, if your system is stable, only update critical components rather than everything at once.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
