Microsoft Windows 11

When I press the power button in the laptop start menu, it restarts instead of shutting down and I have to turn it off with cmd. I think it is related to the battery because the battery of my laptop had a problem and could not be charged and I changed the battery.

Hi@Ali187,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing shutdown issues with the HP Notebook.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • Go to System and Security and then click on Power Options. In the left pane, click on Choose what the power buttons do. Next, click the Change settings that are currently unavailable link. Under the Shutdown settings section, check the Turn on fast startup (recommended) option to turn on the feature.
  • Try doing Reset PC Keep my files from windows and check if it works.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
