Hi, I received an error today Smart hard disk error (301), upon diagnostics it says HP hard drive check has identified a critical failure in your system that requires repair. Failure ID GSMBMH-B8LC1S-MFPX1G-608J03. I have only had this laptop about 15 months and is now out of warranty and I am in Thailand no where near a HP service center. It has now managed to boot up into windows, but i'm scared to shut down or restart in case I can't get it back on, as I need the laptop for work. I'm looking for suggestions on what to do and what could have caused this. I noticed it has updated to a new version of windows yesterday and I wonder if that has triggered it. Thanks

Please use the following Guide
HP PCs - Hard disk 3F0 boot device not found error
Sadly to say: Most of the time the 24 char disk failure id indicates the HDD is failing and it needs to be replaced.. Is it still under warranty ? If NOT, you have to replace yourself then rebuild your machine.
For (original) Windows 10/11. please use Cloud Recovery tools

Thanks for your reply. It's only just out of warranty, it's only 15 months old, I've never known a laptop to fail so quickly. I managed to get it to boot up and it is working, but I haven't restarted or shut down yet. It happened after a windows 11 update so I'm wondering if that's what caused the error?
