Hi there, I own an OMEN by HP 15-dc1009np although it says "OMEN by HP Laptop 15-dc1xxx" in settings.
For some years I have been experiencing stuttering while playing different types of games, at first, I thought it was due to RAM issues so I bought new RAM, and later even though I had a cooling issue with my Fans and bought new Fans, still nothing fixed this issues.
I have tried everything, from reinstalling drivers, errors checking, formatting the laptop, and all HP utilities, and nothing shows with errors or problems.
I have also tried optimizing everything to performance on Windows settings and in-game settings, even if my FPSs are high the stuttering occurs.
The stuttering appears to have a pattern, it usually stutters in 6-second intervals making it impossible to play some games.
I have thought about taking the Laptop to a professional but before that, I wanted to know if you could provide some other suggestions.
Specs: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06243189 but I switched RAM from 16 to 32.

Hi @Rodrigo_Pereira,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already tried a lot of troubleshooting steps for the stuttering issues on your OMEN by HP laptop. Here are some additional suggestions to consider:
1. Check for Thermal Throttling
- Use software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to monitor your CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming. If temperatures are too high, your hardware may be throttling to prevent overheating, which can cause stuttering.
2. Update or Roll Back Drivers
- While you mentioned reinstalling drivers, ensure you have the latest versions for both the GPU and chipset. If you recently updated and started experiencing issues, consider rolling back to a previous version.
3. Check Background Processes
- Use Task Manager to see if there are any background processes consuming a lot of CPU, RAM, or disk usage while gaming. Disable unnecessary startup programs and services.
4. Disable Full-Screen Optimization
- Right-click on the game executable, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and check Disable full-screen optimizations.
5. Adjust Power Settings
- Set your laptop to High Performance in the Windows power settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options and select High Performance.
- In the Advanced settings, ensure that Processor power management is set to maximum performance.
6. Check Storage Performance
- If your game is installed on an HDD, consider moving it to an SSD for better loading times and performance.
- Run a disk check to ensure there are no issues with your storage:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run chkdsk /f.
7. Disable Game Mode
- Sometimes, Windows Game Mode can interfere with performance. Try disabling it:
- Go to Settings > Gaming > Game Mode and turn it off.
8. Network Issues
- If you are playing online games, stuttering can sometimes be related to network latency. Use a wired connection if possible, or check your Wi-Fi signal strength. Consider using tools like PingPlotter to monitor your network performance.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
